First, it was a Mexico concrete manufacturer offering to help President-elect Trump build his wall. Now, Massachusetts Sheriff Thomas Hodgson has come forward to help Trump secure America’s border.
His idea could be a win-win for both taxpayers and inmates.
In an interview with Fox Business, Hodgson noted:
“This is an opportunity for inmates from across the country to be dispatched to the wall where we will be able to not only save tax payers millions of millions of dollars in building it but giving the inmates a chance to do something for America but also learn a skill and prepare themselves for reentry,”
It’s important to note that inmates would not be forced to participate in the project. Nor would they be paid. “The process is completely voluntary but it would give the inmates an opportunity to earn time off their sentences,” according to Hodgson.
Recently, Trump ordered documents associated with constructing the wall.
The incoming president has come under fire recently for asking Congress for the funds to build the wall now. However, the funds already exist for exactly this purpose. And this money will be reimbursed by Mexico later.
Despite liberal objections, he has asked the Department of Homeland Security for information and analysis relating to border security and barrier construction.
According to Reuters, in responding to Trump’s transition team requests, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection staffers identified more than 400 miles along the U.S.-Mexico border, and about the same distance along the U.S.-Canada border, where new fencing could be erected”.
Not surprising is the fact that Democrats have not had any objections to the billions of taxpayer dollars already being spent on illegal immigration.
Like the billions paid out in tax refunds to illegals. Or the millions spent prosecuting and incarcerating illegals who have committed heinous crimes like rape and murder. And you can’t put a price tag on the cost to victims and their families.
Donald Trump’s plan will not only save taxpayer’s money, it will also save lives.
